Vole Dynamics
Vole Mesh Dynamics
(On-going investigation)
An attempt to uncover the incidences of overlap between the niche of the field vole (Microtus agrestis) and the niche of the human at FIELDCLUB. The project aims to establish the levels and types of interconnectedness that hold between fieldclubbers and the fox, barn owls and kestrel who use vole resources at FIELDCLUB. The origin of the study was the attempted planting by fieldclubbers of native broadleaf trees – as future zero-carbon fuel source – in areas of rank grassland, and the disruption of this intention by the field voles, who seem to express a phenotypic desire for those particular areas to stay as grassland, by ring-barking the trees soon after they are planted.
